How does Cryolipolysis work?

Fat cells are more sensitive to cooler temperatures than the surrounding muscle and skin. Cryolipolysis freezes these fat cells and uses a precise applicator coupled with a vacuum to draw excess fat into a tailored device. 

How is Cryolipolysis performed?

No needles, no incision, no sedation, and no pain. We will do a clinical examination, and we will document photographs. This provides realistic expectations and outcomes. We will then position an applicator with an inbuilt suction device on the area to be treated. This applicator will gently draw the bulge between two cooling panels. The cooling will be applied for around an hour. 

Is it painful?

When compared to liposuction, Cryolipolysis is a very comfortable treatment. The initial few minutes might be a little uncomfortable and can be compared to the feeling of ice on the skin. This discomfort will settle down rapidly, and you can listen to your favorite music or take a short nap while the device does its work. 

Is there any downtime/side effects?

Cryolipolysis has no downtime and no major side effects. You can carry on with your daily activities normally. Some patients might notice some redness, bruising, or tingling in the treated area, but that will usually settle down in a couple of hours.  

When will I see the results?

You will notice a change in 3-4 weeks after treatment. However, most dramatic results are seen after 2-3 months. This is because your body will be flushing out the fat cells for up to 6 months after treatment. 

How many sessions will I need?

A single session brings a visible and measurable change in most patients. We will assess your progress 2-3 months after the treatment, and further sessions will be planned accordingly if needed. 

Do I need to follow a special diet or a new exercise program to achieve results?
