We can treat acne scars in several ways, like Chemical Peels, Microneedling, Lasers, and Surgery. Depending on the severity and depth of scars, your skin type, and other important factors, we will decide on a tailor-made treatment protocol to ensure optimal results.
Our acne scarring treatments rarely depend on a single method. We may use a combination of highly effective treatments to get the best outcome.
Acne scars occur due to injury to the dermis. Inflammation during active acne disrupts the ordered structure of collagen and results in acne scarring. To repair these scars, we must remodel old collagen. And, we must rebuild new collagen to achieve an even texture of the skin. To do so, we need to choose methods that penetrate through deep layers of your skin.
These procedures are usually well-tolerated, but topical or injectable anesthesia will be given whenever necessary to make you as comfortable as possible.
There will be mild to moderate redness and some burning sensation after most of the procedures. The redness may persist for a couple of days. However, your recovery process depends on your skin and the nature of the procedure done.
We will give you specific aftercare advice that you need to follow stringently.
Most patients can see noticeable results in a single session. Still, the number of treatments required varies between patients. Some individuals might opt for procedures with no downtime, and they might need several sessions to see optimal results.
The number of treatments you need depends on the nature of scarring and your skin type. Roughly around 4-6 treatments might display the best results. These treatments are planned at an interval of about 4-6 weeks.
The results are best seen after 3 months of a single procedure. It takes time for collagen remodeling and the production of renewed collagen in the skin.
